Mrs. Latifa Mashaqbah (Um Khalil) did not know that her donation of 100,000 Jordanian dinars to build an elementary school for the children of Al-Faisaliah (30 km south of Mafraq) would alleviate the suffering of the village’s children.
Um Khalil has today become a role model for generosity and charity, offering assistance to the needy and providing relief to those in distress. Her financial contribution has built a school that ended the hardships of dozens of students who had been facing great challenges in accessing schools outside their village, resulting in additional financial burdens for their families.
The Al-Faisaliah Mixed Elementary School in the Balama district of Mafraq Governorate, which was recently visited by the Prime Minister, is a model of community service, social solidarity, and educational waqf (charitable endowment).
The cost of building the school was around 100,000 dinars, donated by Um Khalil, and today the construction has been completed according to the technical specifications of the Ministry of Education. The school has now opened its doors to the first group of students, becoming a beacon of knowledge and learning for them.
According to the school’s principal, Faisal Mashaqbah, the school is located 30 km from Mafraq city and includes classrooms up to the sixth grade, in addition to fully-equipped school facilities. However, the school needs to be expanded due to the distance of Al-Faisaliah from neighboring populated areas and the increasing demand from local parents for registration.
Mashaqbah explained that the school offers a conducive educational environment that has allowed students to excel in their studies, thanks to a capable teaching staff. He also pointed out that the visit of Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan to the school provided motivation for the staff to continue excelling and gave the local community peace of mind about the quality of education their children are receiving.
Mafraq Governorate Council members, Ahmed Aleimat and Rida Khawaldeh, emphasized that the Al-Faisaliah school is an example of the educational waqf initiative that is spreading in the Mafraq area, benefiting students and families, and assisting the Ministry of Education in its efforts to alleviate overcrowding and facilitate student access to schools without hardship.
The students expressed their great happiness that their dream of having a school built in their village had come true, considering that this achievement is the result of the generous donation from Um Khalil, who has set an example of helping those in need.
In their statements to Al-Ula news, the students affirmed that they now look forward to excellence in their new school, as it provides a motivating and suitable learning environment to achieve high academic success. They pointed out that their new school has excellent classrooms equipped with the latest technology and comfortable seating, which is a significant improvement compared to their previous school, located outside their village.
The parents in the village also expressed their deep gratitude to Um Khalil for donating the school for their children. They emphasized that her contribution not only ended the students’ struggles but also relieved parents from the daily burden of transporting their children to school early in the morning.
